It’s Not Just Another Left Turn

On the surface it just doesn-t seem like a big deal. NASCAR seems very simple. I mean after all, we all drive. They just do it a little faster. Many people get upset at it being called a sport and other such attitudes are prevalent. However, this shows a lack of understanding of the team spirit and skill it takes in order to be competitive in NASCAR.

First of all, this sport requires a team. It takes a great team of engineers and mechanics to assemble a car that meets the thousands if specifications and still performs at top notch. It takes a pit crew that is fast, efficient, and knowledgeable. It takes a crew chief to oversee, a driver with skill, and others to help the driver during the race.

Going beyond the amount of people it takes, drivers must be able to do more than just make left turns. Mental concentration to be aware of 42 other cars on the track and racing over 200 MPH while only inches away from several other cars take skill. Being able to hold a car on a line and navagite between these other cars for several hours as G force attmepts to throw you from side to side takes skill. When you understand all of this and more you realize the amazing skill that these professional driver possess.
