The best way to take in a race, however, is to do it live – if you’ve never made the pilgrimage you’ve got to hit up one of our favorite tracks:
Charlotte Motor Speedway – It’s a great track with a heck of a stadium and it’s open to the public! Take a lap in a real track van for free at certain times of day and visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame in downtown Charlotte, too.
Bristol – Real race fans think Bristol is the cream of the crop. Every seat in the house is a good one and the fans here get loud, really loud. Bristol isn’t much of a town but what it lacks in size it makes up for in fandom.
Daytona – Wouldn’t you like to see where Dale died and where many of the greatest moments of the last half century in racing unfolded? Daytona’s a bit of a haul and tickets are scarce but it’s TOTALLY WORTH IT.

On the surface it just doesn-t seem like a big deal. NASCAR seems very simple. I mean after all, we all drive. They just do it a little faster. Many people get upset at it being called a sport and other such attitudes are prevalent. However, this shows a lack of understanding of the team spirit and skill it takes in order to be competitive in NASCAR.

First of all, this sport requires a team. It takes a great team of engineers and mechanics to assemble a car that meets the thousands if specifications and still performs at top notch. It takes a pit crew that is fast, efficient, and knowledgeable. It takes a crew chief to oversee, a driver with skill, and others to help the driver during the race.

Going beyond the amount of people it takes, drivers must be able to do more than just make left turns. Mental concentration to be aware of 42 other cars on the track and racing over 200 MPH while only inches away from several other cars take skill. Being able to hold a car on a line and navagite between these other cars for several hours as G force attmepts to throw you from side to side takes skill. When you understand all of this and more you realize the amazing skill that these professional driver possess.

Although many love the thrill of racing, and watching their favorite driver win the big race, the training and prep that goes into one of these races, is much more than what the average fan may be aware of. The prep for these races goes on for months in advance of a big race, and involves everyone from the driver, the pit crew, to the owners of the racing team. It is not an easy two or three day prep driving around the track and getting in a few laps on the day of the race.Is this new to you? Catch up here It takes hard work, dedication, and all players on the team, from the driver, to those changing his tires during a pit stop, has to be perfectly rehersed, so that things go well on race day.

Making sure that everyone on the crew is ready for the race is essential for the best performance, and for the winning to take place. It takes plenty of time for the driver and his crew, to get acquainted with each other, so that they will know how to interact during race day, in order for things to go as smoothly as possible, during the big race event.

For nascar and race fans in general, who love the thrill of watching their favorite drivers race at speeds they would never expect to experience driving at, if you wonder what it takes to make those cars go as fast as they do, the answer is quite complex. There are several features in the engines of race cars which would not be legal in a regular car you could purchase at the dealership. These cars are specifically designed for racing, and use the fastest engine prototypes, to really get them to the extreme speeds they are capable of reaching on the track. It takes a lot of technology and advancements in the engineering world, to make these engines be able to reach these speeds, well above 200 miles per hour.

So, if you ever expect to buy one of these cars for yourself, do not expect to find them at your local dealership any time soon. These engines are specifcally designed for racing, and are put under strict scrutiny and testing before they are put out for race teams to buy. The undergo several tests to ensure safety and reliability, but will not be on the consumer market for general purchase.

There are a bunch of tips of the trade when riding your car on the track or even staying in the pit for a bit to get a refreshed start.

One thing to look out for is your spotter. A lot of times it’s really hard to get movement or see exactly what’s going on around you. The spotter can tell you from a distance exactly what’s going on like how far ahead you are from everyone else, and whether a certain racer is using a method that’s helping him speed up faster than the rest.

Another tip is getting the right kind of handle. It’s best to test these out at practice, so you can get near or at top speed. Working out the wedge before the race will help you become more comfortable and have a stronger race. This is often pivotal during a pit stop to help you loosen or tighten the steering wheel for adding or subtracting wedge.

There are times you won’t be able to finish a lap because of repairs. Don’t worry about that because you can always do a make up lap and might even have time to do another just to finish the race.
